Inspiration: Bridewell – Order, Labor, and Individual Expression

The name “Bridewell” refers to the historic Bridewell in London, which became an early House of Correction in the 16th century. There, labor, discipline, and social order were combined within a system of control and supposed moral reform.

In the design, this historical tension is translated into textile form. Ordered lines meet shifted proportions, precisely placed surfaces meet fluid folds. The asymmetric construction of “Bridewell” reflects the relationship between structure and deviation, transforming it into a distinctive, wearable silhouette.

The result is a designer top defined not only by its form, but also by its conceptual depth: controlled yet free, precise in construction and fluid in expression.

Cut & Silhouette: Shifted Lines and Sculptural Volume

The distinctive silhouette of “Bridewell” is created through diagonally arranged fabric panels and a deliberately shifted shoulder construction. At the front, soft folds develop across the bust and waist, forming a three-dimensional contour that changes with posture and movement.
