Product informations

“Salzzähler” is a black unisex designer oversized coat with a hood, crafted from a Japanese fabric by Takihyo composed of 52% cotton and 48% wool. The pronounced cocoon silhouette, sculptural hood, dropped shoulders, and wide sleeves combine functional outerwear with dark avant-garde. The generous cut gives women and men plenty of room for individual layering and different proportions. An extraordinary coat by eigensinnig wien for people who appreciate textile depth, distinctive forms, and expressive all-black looks.

Black Unisex Oversized Coat with Sculptural Hood and Cocoon Silhouette

“Salzzähler” translates volume into a clearly constructed form. The long cut generously envelops the body and develops a characteristic cocoon silhouette through its rounded side line. The vertical button placket gives structure to the front and creates a clear counterpoint to the coat’s generous width.

The oversized cut leaves room for knitwear, shirts, and additional layers. Its effect changes depending on the styling: slimmer bottoms emphasize the coat’s volume, while wide pants create a flowing, expansive overall silhouette.

Inspiration: Protection, Volume, and Dark Avant-Garde

The design of “Salzzähler” emerges from the interplay of enclosure, space, and movement. The large hood frames the head and shoulders and gives the coat an almost architectural presence. Worn open, it falls broadly around the neck and shoulders and appears like a sculpturally shaped collar.

Wide sleeves, dropped shoulders, and the long coat shape create a powerful silhouette that moves between hooded coat, designer coat, and avant-garde unisex outerwear. The construction combines function with a distinctive design language.

Cut & Construction: Oversized with a Rounded Cocoon Shape

The oversized cut provides generous width through the shoulders, upper body, and sleeves. The dropped shoulder construction supports the fluid drape, while the side line gently curves in the lower section and gathers the volume into a cocoon shape.

The visible button placket runs vertically down the front and structures the generous surface. Large patch pockets follow the lines of the coat and combine practical function with a distinctive graphic detail.

The length extends well below the hips, making “Salzzähler” a warming outerwear layer for fall, winter, and cool transitional days. The generous construction is especially suited to layering and can be interpreted individually by women and men.

Material & Color: Japanese Cotton-Wool Blend by Takihyo in Black

“Salzzähler” is crafted from a Japanese fabric by Takihyo. The composition of 52% cotton and 48% wool combines the natural structure of cotton with the warmth and textile depth of wool.

The surface has a fine yet clearly visible texture that gives the black material additional depth. At the same time, the fabric has enough substance to emphasize the large hood, wide sleeves, and voluminous coat shape in a sculptural way.

Black reinforces the sculptural effect and highlights the different surfaces, curves, and proportions of the design. This makes the coat especially strong in dark fashion, monochrome silhouettes, and avant-garde all-black outfits.

Details: Sculptural Hood, Button Placket, and Large Pockets

The hood is one of the defining elements of “Salzzähler.” When worn up, it frames the face generously and creates a distinctive, protective silhouette. Worn open, it falls broadly over the shoulders and neck and significantly changes the overall effect of the coat.

The button placket creates a vertical line across the front and gives structure to the wide construction. Large patch pockets echo the rounded side section and reinforce the functional character of the design.

Dropped shoulders and wide sleeves provide freedom of movement and enough room for additional layers. Material and cut work together to keep the coat’s characteristic shape visible.

Styling: Oversized Coat for All-Black Looks and Winter Layering

Paired with the wide “Bandlkramer” designer pants, the coat creates an expansive silhouette in which coat and pants play with different volumes. The long outerwear line meets wide pleats and creates an expressive all-black look.

The black “Fratschlerin” pleated pants bring a more defined tailoring element into the combination. The double pleats structure the lower part of the look and create a compelling counterpoint to the rounded coat shape.

For warming layers, “Salzzähler” can be combined with the “Djadek” designer wool sweater. The generous width of the coat provides enough room for knitwear, while different wool textures add further textile depth to the monochrome outfit.

Paired with the unconventional “Rotwelsch” knickerbocker pants, the proportions shift even more dramatically. The cropped, voluminous pant leg meets the long coat line and creates a distinctive avant-garde look with strong contrasts in form.

Boots reinforce the powerful, urban effect. Minimal leather shoes move the outfit in a more elegant dark-elegance direction. The hood can be worn as the main sculptural element or left open over the shoulders and neck.

Unisex Design: One Form for Different Bodies and Proportions

The unisex cut of “Salzzähler” is based on width, length, and proportion. As a result, the coat’s effect changes with body height, build, and personal styling.

Across different bodies, its defining elements remain visible: the large hood, wide sleeves, long line, and rounded volume. This allows the coat to be worn by women and men across different sizes and styling preferences.

Bespoke Tailoring & Craftsmanship: Individual Proportions

The effect of “Salzzähler” emerges from the interplay of fabric, cut, and volume. Hood, shoulder construction, sleeve shape, pockets, and coat length are coordinated with one another and define the characteristic cocoon silhouette.

Upon request, fit and proportions can be individually adjusted in our tailoring atelier in Vienna. The generous width, distinctive hood, and special lines of the design are preserved throughout the adjustment.
