A grand church, a few cafés, some benches, and eigensinnig wien. We are located on the picturesque Sankt-Ulrichs-Platz in Vienna’s 7th district, Neubau, near the MuseumsQuartier. Here, time seems to have stood still in turn-of-the-century Vienna, yet a touch of Mediterranean flair fills the air. At times, one might think they are standing in an Italian piazza. On this cobblestone square, you can feel the calm pulse of the city, about which Gustav Mahler once said: “If the world should ever come to an end, I will move to Vienna, because everything happens there 50 years later.” |
Paradoxical and eigensinnig as we are, we create innovative fashion on one of Vienna’s oldest squares. Since 2012, not only our designer shop but also our office, atelier, and tailoring studio have called this place home. What you see in the fashion store is the result of our work. Everything else happens in our fashion atelier on the first floor—and that is quite a lot.

eigensinnig is both a fashion store and a flagship store. A gallery and a showroom. An extraordinary Viennese designer shop. The avant-garde fashion hangs from the soaring ceiling because it is like art and deserves to be presented accordingly. Beneath the centuries-old vaults, the space is continuously rebuilt and rearranged. We change things regularly because every new designer collection calls for a new environment.

In our concept store in Vienna, apparent contradictions merge: global and local, old and new, warm and cold, masculine and feminine, nature and art. Sometimes art appears on the walls or throughout the space. It always relates to the themes that shaped our current collection. The atmosphere is truly unique—a hidden gem away from Vienna’s main shopping streets and, at the same time, a memorable shopping destination. Are you looking for an extraordinary black outfit that highlights your personality, but you are not yet sure exactly what it should be? Then you need the right personal advice, without time pressure. The quality of our advice and our exceptional service are extremely important to us. We have an eye for designer fashion that suits you. We show you which style complements you and what message your outfit conveys. We are also completely honest when a garment may not be the right choice for you. Coffee is available too. And sometimes even a glass of white or red wine. |

Trousers or sleeves that are too long are shortened in our in-house alterations studio. Is the waist too wide? Is the jacket too long? Whatever does not fit will be made to fit. And should you wish to have a personalised piece made, we will be happy to advise you. Your unique garment will be created in our exclusive bespoke tailoring studio. |
