Merleau-Ponty Versatile men's waistcoat from cotton/linen in grey, double-sided

Both sides wearable light and slim men's waistcoat. Unusual creation for autumn and winter with many obstinate details.

Maurice Merleau-Ponty was a French phenomenologist who was intensely concerned with ambiguity.

This ambiguity in his thoughts is also reflected in the men's waistcoat named after him. It can be worn on both sides. On one side the silky, delicate black of the Ramie linen, on the other the organic structure of the gray cotton-linen fabric. Depending on the wearer's mood, they can choose which side they prefer. There is no clearly defined inside and outside.

What else makes the gilet stand out?

The special pockets on the sides with the open edges
the distinctive tapered ends on the front side
a loop with which the width can be adjusted on both sides
a double row of buttons made of discreet horn buttons
the detail of the three ochre lines on the side

Combined with the men's jacket 'Fichte' in black and gray and the pleated pants 'Epikur' in black and gray, the waistcoat becomes a versatile three-piece suit.

We design our collections in an experimental process, enriching them with thoughts and ideas from the fields of philosophy, art and literature or drawing inspiration from philosophy, art and literature. That is why our trousers and jackets, blouses and dresses bear the names of philosophers, literary figures and sociologists. We work with materials from nature, which we like to combine in asymmetrical, avant-garde cuts. Our aesthetic is based on the Japanese wabi-sabi concept: “Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
