Exceptional wide cape made of wool and cotton in black and white with hood. A protective companion for obstinate of any gender on cold days in autumn and winter.
Persephone was the daughter of the Greek father of the gods Zeus and at the same time goddess of the underworld and fertility. She is described as a sensual beauty with a deep connection to nature and led a life in two worlds that could not be more opposite. At the side of Hades, she spent part of the year in the dark underworld. The rest of the time, however, she lived in the bright upper world, surrounded by her beloved, flourishing nature. The myth of the seasons, characterized by a constant change between deepest darkness and splendid bloom as a symbol of the changing life in two different worlds, arose from her life story.
The black and white avant-garde cape from our own studio embodies the cold, lightless winter season; a sensual metaphor of Persephone's descent into the dark underworld. The lightly structured fabric has a refined, coherent pattern, which appears rich in contrast and is reminiscent of the longed-for ascent back to the upper world, brightly radiant with blooming nature. The high demand for creative, opinionated design is evident in the cut stand-up collar with a subtle wave at the neck, a diagonal zip at the front.
The exquisite wool and cotton fabrics, on the other hand, hint at the goddess' close connection to nature. The wide-cut cape protects against cold and moisture with its hood and offers plenty of freedom of movement. A horn button on the side allows the wearer to form a loose sleeve. The exceptional cape is significantly longer in the back than in the front, emphasizing its protective component on cold days in fall and winter. A subtle, obstinate detail is the bifurcation of the back seam at the hem as a symbol of the division of Persephone's world into two parts.

eigensinnig wien: special avant-garde fashion for men and women.
Under our avant-garde fashion label eigensinnig wien, we manufacture unique fashion pieces for obstinate characters. We design our collections in an experimental process, enriching them with thoughts and ideas from the fields of philosophy, art and literature or drawing inspiration from philosophy, art and literature. That is why our trousers and jackets, blouses and dresses bear the names of philosophers, literary figures and sociologists. We work with materials from nature, which we like to combine in asymmetrical, avant-garde cuts. Our aesthetic is based on the Japanese wabi-sabi concept: “Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
