eigensinnig wien Chaplin Linen hat in black

Regular price €140,00

Unconventional summer hat made of light linen and with special details. Handmade rarity for obstinate heads of any gender.

Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin may be famous for his unforgettable interpretation of the "Tramp" with bowler hat, walking stick, mustache and frock coat in silent movies, but he was also a director, screenwriter, composer, film producer, comedian and entrepreneur. Because he co-founded the film company United Artist, he is considered one of the forefathers of Hollywood.

Similarly versatile is the hat named after him from the in-house atelier; the ideal companion for cooler days and nights in spring and summer. It's handmade from light, fine linen with a delicate texture and sits loosely on the head. Worn with the waistband folded over, it reveals unconventional details like the open, slightly frayed hem that gives the special hat a subtle Wabi-sabi touch, or the eye-catching cloud-shaped incision on the front that can be read as a reference to the Hollywood dream factory - or as a metaphor for the ups and downs of life that Charlie Chaplin always humorously elaborated on in his films.

eigensinnig wien: special avant-garde fashion for men and women.

Under our avant-garde fashion label eigensinnig wien, we manufacture unique fashion pieces for obstinate characters. We design our collections in an experimental process, enriching them with thoughts and ideas from the fields of philosophy, art and literature or drawing inspiration from philosophy, art and literature. That is why our trousers and jackets, blouses and dresses bear the names of philosophers, literary figures and sociologists. We work with materials from nature, which we like to combine in asymmetrical, avant-garde cuts. Our aesthetic is based on the Japanese wabi-sabi concept: “Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
